    This is a Lifeline national service. LivingWorks conducts a series of training programs in suicide prevention and intervention such as the Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) course. The programs are offered in local communities.

    Mental Health First Aid

    The Mental Health First Aid course is designed to help people recognise the initial signs of a mental health problem or crisis. Participants are taught ‘first aid’ strategies in order to provide initial support for someone with a mental health problem.

    Suicide Awareness Voices of Education

    Suicide Prevention Australia

    Suicide Prevention Australia is a non-profit non-government organisation working as a public health advocate in suicide prevention. Whilst not a crisis intervention service this site contains a ‘Getting Help’ section that provides links to nationwide numbers.

    Suicideline Victoria

    Suicideline Victoria provides telephone counselling crisis intervention and referrals for people who feel suicidal their carers and those bereaved by suicide. The site contains information written specifically for each group affected by suicide and links to community resources.

    Sexual Abuse Resources

    International Association of Forensic Nurses: Forensic Nursing is the application of nursing science to public or legal proceedings; the application of the forensic aspects of health care combined with the bio-psycho-social education of the registered nurse in the scientific investigation and treatment of trauma and/or death of victims and perpetrators of abuse, violence, criminal activity and traumatic accidents.  Their site includes information on Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner certification.

    Men Can Stop Rape: an international organization that mobilizes men to use their strength for creating cultures free from violence, especially men’s violence against women.

    National Action Plan Against Sexual Assault (NAPASA): A multi-national effort to reform the response of  legal systems to sexual assault and child sexual abuse. Their site includes background and research materials, legal briefs and more.

    Sexual Abuse of Males – Prevalence, Lasting Effects, and Resources:  A site by Dr. Jim Hopper, it supplies information, support and resources for males abused as children

    Stop Rape Now – UN Action against Sexual Violence in Conflict: UN Action against Sexual Violence in Conflict (UN Action) unites the work of 12 UN entities to prevent all forms of gender based violence (GBV), including sexual violence in conflict.

    Australian Centre for the Study of Sexual Assault: The Australian Centre for the Study of Sexual Assault aims to improve access to current information and resources in order to assist those committed to working against sexual assault. ACSSA will help to support and develop strategies that aim to prevent, respond to, and ultimately reduce the incidence of this crime.

    Policing Just Outcomes in Sexual Assault Project : The main goals of the project are: – To improve our understanding of the incidence, nature and dynamics of sexual assault in Victoria, police responses to it, and the outcomes these responses generate. – To identify and understand the factors and dilemmas that influence the decisions made by adult victims of sexual assault on whether or not to report the offence/s to police. – To inform and improve Victoria Police responses to victim/survivors of sexual assault and the ways that Victoria Police manage the reporting of sexual assault – To identify and develop ways for the criminal justice system to better respond to and manage reports of sexual assault

    Victorian CASA Forum: The Victorian CASA Forum Inc is the peak body of the 15 Centres Against Sexual Assault, and the Victorian Sexual Assault Crisis Line (after hours). Together we work to ensure that women, children and men who are victim/survivors of sexual assault have access to comprehensive and timely support and intervention to address their needs.

    Childcry: Childcry wants to help survivors and secundary victims of sexual abuse in general to take the first step on their way on recovery, both youngsters and adults.     Alliance to End Violence: The Alliance to End Violence is Calgary’s resource centre for family and sexual violence. This excellent site supplies background, security and safety information, plus links and resources for victims in this region.

    Alberta Association of Sexual Assault Centers (AASAC): AASAC) represents ten sexual assault centres across Alberta. AASAC is an effective provincial organization that represents issues critical to the clients they serve.

    BC Association of Specialized Victim Service and counselling Programs: The Association provides a provincial voice for survivors of violence and the community-based services that support them. They maintain a strong network between Community-Based Victim Assistance programs, Sexual Assault Centres and Stopping the Violence counselling programs across BC. They have also established important links with government, policy makers, legislators and other provincial organizations.

    Canadian Association of Sexual Assault Centres: CASAC is a Pan Canadian group of sexual assault centres which have come together to implement the legal, social and attitudinal changes necessary to prevent, and ultimately eradicate, rape and sexual assault. Included on this site are ongoing projects, discussions, news and more.

    Centre for Research on Violence: Funded by the Canadian government, this organization seeks to prevent domestic violence and sexual abuse. They are involved in a number of areas, including intervention strategies, civil and criminal remedies, education, training initiatives and prevention. The Centre is starting a research project to learn more about the experiences people have had with the civil court system, when they brought a law suit against someone who sexually assaulted or sexually abused them. They are trying to reach every person in CANADA who has received a judgment in a civil case about a sexual abuse or sexual assault in the past ten years.

    Ontario Network of Sexual Assault Care and Treatment Centres (ONSACTC): This website provides information about the services offered at Sexual Assault Care and Treatment Centres in Ontario as well as information about sexual assault and domestic violence. Although the original mandate of their service revolved around the care for victims/survivors of sexual assault, their mandate is expanding to include service for victims/survivors of domestic violence.

    Against Rape: Black Women’s Rape Action Project: Information on the struggle of women of colour against rape, domestic violence, racist sexual assault, and on seeking asylum after rape.

    Children at Risk in Ireland (CARI) Foundation: Their primary goal is to provide a professional, child centred therapy and counselling service to children, families, and groups who have been affected by child sexual abuse. They also provide education and information services for children, adults and professionals on the dynamics of child sexual abuse, as well as to raise public and political awareness of these issues.

    Dublin Rape Crisis Centre

    Eighteen and Under: Eighteen And Under charity, based in Dundee, which offers confidential support and information to any young person aged 18 and under who have experienced sexual, physical or emotional abuse.

    Help For Adult Victims of Child Abuse (HAVOCA): A voluntary organization established to provide help, support and guidance to adult victims of child abuse.  Extensive information on services, support agencies and other information is provided.

    National Association for People Abused in Childhood (UK) Many resources and support features for those who were sexually abused as children

    One in Four (Ireland): One in Four offers advocacy and support for women and men who have experienced sexual abuse and/or sexual violence, as well as to their family and friends.  They provide psychotherapy treatments, advocacy, and online support groups.

    Rape Crisis England and Wales: Rape Crisis (England and Wales) provides co-ordination for the national network of Rape Crisis Centres across England and Wales.  They provide a range of specialist services for women and girls that have been raped or experienced another form of sexual violence – whether as adults or as children.     Safe Space (Scotland): Safe Space provides a free and confidential range of support services for people who have experienced sexual abuse, at any age, of any gender.

    Survivors UK: This organization provides information, support and counselling for men who have been raped or sexually abused.

    Truth About Rape: A large collection of resources, for the purpose of challenging myths about rape, and bring the truth and realities of rape back onto the public agenda.

    Alaska Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault: The purpose of the Council is to is to “provide for planning and coordination of services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and to perpetrators of domestic violence and sexual assault and to provide for crisis intervention and prevention programs”

    Alaska Network on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (ANDVSA): The Network is a non-profit, membership corporation composed of 21 programs statewide that provide services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, offender services, and adult crisis intervention services. The purposes of the Network are to promote linkage and communication between the programs, facilitate information sharing, secure funding in a cooperative and non-competitive manner, and to expose the roots of violence against women and children in this culture.

    California Coalition Against Sexual Assault (CALCASA): CALCASA is a statewide coalition of rape crisis centers and prevention programs founded in 1980.

    California Coalition on Sexual Offending: This Coalition’s goal is to stop sexual abuse by supporting, educating and training to professionals and the community.

    Child Sexual Abuse: An excellent overview of this crime, including easy to read and understand information on perpetrators and the techniques they use to lure children.

    Children’s Advocacy Center of Volusia & Flagler Counties: The Center provides education, safety, counseling and advocacy services to child victims of family violence, sexual abuse and assault.

    Connecticut Sexual Assault Crisis Services (CONNSACS): CONNSACS is a statewide coalition of individual sexual assault crisis programs, which work to end sexual violence through victim assistance, community education, and public policy advocacy.

    CONTACT Lifeline Delaware: CONTACT Lifeline Delaware provides telephone counselling, crisis intervention, information and referral, education and prevention services for persons in crisis and for persons in need of listening services, including a state-wide rape crisis hotline and survivor support program.

    Department of Defense Sexual Assault Prevention and Response: SAPRO is the organization responsible for all Department of Defense (DoD) sexual assault policy.

    Florida Council Against Sexual Violence (FCASV): The Florida Council Against Sexual Violence is a statewide nonprofit organization committed to victims and survivors of sexual violence and the sexual assault crisis programs who serve them.. They provide information, education, support, technical assistance and advocacy.

    Georgia Network to End Sexual Assault (GNESA): GNESA is a non-profit coalition of sexual assault agencies and concerned individuals that share the common goal of ending sexual assault. coordinates and supports a multidisciplinary approach to public and professional education, advocacy, and service for sexual assault centers and service providers.

    Hope for Healing.Org: A site for victims of rape, it includes a contact for an online support group and a large number of links relating to rape, rape survivors and their families.

    Idaho Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence (ICASDV): ICASDV networks with individuals, programs, organizations, advocates and agencies dedicated to ending sexual assault and domestic violence.

    Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault (ICASA): ICASA is a non-profit corporation of 33 community-based sexual assault crisis centers. Each center provides 24-hour crisis intervention services, counselling and advocacy for victims of sexual assault and their significant others.

    Indiana Coalition Against Sexual Assault: INCASA is a coalition of organizations and individuals who provide advocacy, training, education to organizations and support services to victims.  Their site supplies many links to pages dealing with these and other issues.

    Iowa Coalition Against Sexual Assault (IowaCASA): IowaCASA unites Iowa’s sexual assault crisis centers.  It provides: training; public policy activities; assistance to communities of color; resources; referrals.

    Louisiana Foundation Against Sexual Assault (LAFASA): This is a private nonprofit organization of the state’s sexual assault crisis centers, as well as other agencies and individuals concerned about sexual violence. LAFASA works toward the elimination of sexual violence, through program support, education, and social change. Their site includes state resources, events, and links to related materials and organizations.

    National Clearinghouse on Marital and Date Rape: The CNMDR works through research, education, information, advocacy and counselling to o bring about social, legal, political, psychological, economic, and religious change in order to make intimate relationships truly egalitarian.

    National Sexual Violence Resource Center: NSVRC serves as a clearinghouse for information resources and research on this topic.  It hopes to  influence policy, practice and research by providing greater interaction, investigation and review, and by promoting awareness within the anti-sexual violence movement.

    New Mexico Clearinghouse on Sexual Abuse and Assault Services:  The NMCSAAS Clearinghouse maintains an in-house library system that includes books, journals, videos, cassettes, CD-ROM and other reference materials on sexual abuse and sexual assault .
